Before entering BWI, she had been working in various development organizations for over 10 years, particularly in programme management and capacity building. She started her work in the humanitarian sector with the International Catholic Migration Committee (ICMC) in Nias, in the community development programme as team leader. This was followed by her works with HIVOS Aceh and VSO Indonesia. Shelly is also familiar with trade union engagement since her university period at University of Padjadjaran.
